GUARDIAN PROGRAM THERAPIST

 

STATUS

Independence, MO 

          

DUTIES

To provide quality therapeutic interventions for families and monitor sessions of court ordered supervised visitation for children in the guardian program.

 

DIRECT SERVICE

•  Monitor therapeutic visits.

•  Monitor sessions of supervised visitation.

•  Provide written observations and assessments of each visitation.

 

ADMINISTRATION

 

•  Complete Observation Sheets for each client seen at each visitation.

•  Complete progress notes on each client after visitation which will meet auditing standards.

•  Close client files at time of exit according to set standards.

•  Provide expert testimony to courts as required by the courts or requested by supervisor.

 

OTHER

 

•  Participate in trainings as requested by supervisor.

 

REQUIREMENTS

 

•  Master's degree in counseling or related field.

•  Licensed or licensed eligible.

•  Knowledge of Domestic Violence.

•  Experience working with children.

•  Successfully pass Child Abuse Reporting background check.

•  Must provide their own liability insurance and provide proof of such when a contract is signed.

 

HOURS

 

This contract position will work either Wednesdays or Fridays 5:30pm-8:30pm or Sundays 2:30-5:30 or 4:30-7:30.

  

DIRECTOR OF OUTREACH PROGRAMS

    

SUPERVISOR

STATUS

Full-time

 

DUTIES

Coordinate outreach programs including Court, Legal, Hospital, Human Trafficking and Guardian.

SUPERVISION

•  Direct supervision of Court Advocates, Human Trafficking (HT) Case Manager, Guardian Program Coordinator, Paralegal and BridgeSpan Coordinator.

•  Hire for vacant positions in programs under supervision.

ADMINISTRATIVE DUTIES

•  Provide oversight of programming and operations for the court program, HT program, hospital program, paralegal services and the visitation program.

•  Ensure quality services through oversight of quality assurance and evaluation procedures.

•  Act as liaison with local police departments and the judiciary.

•  Provide input for the development and implementation of new programs.

•  Manage all reporting and program requirements for direct service grants.

•  Represent Hope House at appropriate community meetings.

 

DIRECT SERVICES

•  Provide clients with information, support, and assistance in ten different court settings.

•  Act as a liaison between the victim of abuse and the criminal justice system.

•  Ensure the safety and confidentiality of each victim of abuse involved in the court process.

•  Participate in the follow-up visits with the police departments to past victims.

•  Initiate client contact by phone before, during and after case disposition, to provide on-going support and assistance

 

EDUCATION/TRAINING DUTIES

•  Provide "Full Order of Protection" and "Court Advocacy" training three times a year during general volunteer training.

•  Educate new staff on court advocacy program and provide annual in-service to all staff.

•  Participate as a member of the Speaker's Bureau.

•  Train new staff, students, and volunteers on court advocacy program and filing emergency ex-partes.

•  Provide in-service training and facilitate processing groups for all victim advocates in the court program at bi-monthly court advocate meetings.

•  Provide roll-call training to police officers.

•  Provide continuing education training to police officers.

•  Train new recruits and new hires with the police department.

•  Facilitate the Independence and Lee's Summit Coordinated Community Council Meetings.

•  Participate as a member of the Raytown Coordinated Community Council.

•  Develop training for Hope House staff, police departments, other social service agencies on identifying human trafficking victims and resources available.

•  Develop intake paperwork, literature, and other documents as needed to track victims of human trafficking.

 

OTHER

•  Participate in on-call rotation.

•  Work one holiday shift a year.

•  Additional duties as requested by supervisor.

•  Attend monthly staff meetings and weekly manager's meeting.

•  Keep "Court Advocate Manual" updated.

•  Other duties as requested.

•  Participate as a member of the HT task force.

 

REQUIREMENTS

•  Excellent organizational & follow-up skills.

•  Excellent communication skills.

•  Knowledge of domestic violence and its impact on the victims and society.

•  BA/BS in Social Service field.

•  Working knowledge of Missouri Adult Abuse Law and court procedures preferred.

•  Practical management and leadership capability with demonstrated success in training, motivating and communicating well with direct reports, peers and leadership team

•  Police background check and Family Care Safety Registry Screening are required and must be returned clear.

•  Access to a motor vehicle, proof of insurance and a current driving record (MVR) required.
